How to add View in Browser Links to Ontraport Emails
Some links on this page are affiliates links and I may, at no additional cost to you, receive compensation if you decide to purchase. Please be assured I only recommend products I believe in and use myself.
In this blog let’s talk about something that is very simple, but often overlooked in Ontraport accounts: the ability to add View in Browser links to your emails.
In Ontraport, this is called a hosted email link. It’s a link in your emails that allows people to click it and view the content of your email in a browser window, outside of their inbox. Like this example.
It is commonly used for people to share content with others without having to forward the email. This is available in all three of the email editors in Ontraport, but it looks a little bit different in each one of them.
As always, the steps are outlined in writing under the video below, in case you like that better.
View in Browser for Simple Email
- Create your email
- Click the merge field item in the email editor menu
- Choose the option named Hosted Email Link
This inserts a shortcode in your email, which will produce a raw email link when sent to your contacts. It will looks like this:
Non-Raw Url View in Browser
If you prefer to have the link in a sentence, rather than having a raw url, you can:
- Copy or cut the shortcode from the email body.
- Insert the line of text you want to link
- Select the text, and click the link item in the email editor menu
- Paste the shortcode in the URL box
- Change the URL type to Other
That last step is essential. If you do not change the link type to Other, your email will have a broken link in it.
View in Browser Link in Ontramail
- Create your email
- Click Add Block
- Click Hosted Email Link in the menu on the left of the screen
- Choose one of the block options
Alternatively, you can type text in any block in an Ontramail, and use the Hosted Email Link shortcode to link your text, as described in the instructions above.
View in Browser Link in HTML Email
- Create your email
- Click the merge field item below the emil body box
- Choose the option named Hosted Email Link
This inserts a shortcode in your email, which will produce a raw email link when sent to your contacts. If you prefer to link a line of text, follow these instructions.
These steps allow you to add View in Browser links to emails in any Ontraport editor, and even link any line of text to them.
